Santa Cruz with the Moores

Last week one of our favorite families came to visit us and we had a blast! We spent one whole day in Santa Cruz: the boys took surf lessons, we got some beach time in, hit up the boardwalk for the first time and (of course) ate at Woodstock Pizza.

J has fallen in love with surfing, he took to it much easier than he thought he would (he says the teachers were great) and he can't wait to make it a regular part of his life. Fortunately, there are some good surf spots within a half hour of us, so a weekly surf session is not out of the realm of possibility.

While the boys were surfing, all of the girls (and C) played on the beach and ate lots of snacks. C spent a lot of time working on his lady killin' skills (he took quite a liking to Miss Savannah). T, C and B all proved their incompatibility with the sun by coming home with bad, patchy sunburns.

After the beach, we all headed over to the (free) Santa Cruz Boardwalk, and it was so cute! T has been before, when she was about 15, but it was the first time for everyone else. Lucky for us it was 1907 night and after 5pm all rides were $1. The kids each got to go on a couple rides, J and the Moores enjoyed the roller coaster offerings. It will definitely be a spot we return to again. Although in the future (as we say each and every time we go to the beach) we'll just stay overnight.
