See J work.

This past week was J's first week on a new project at work, some of you may be familiar with this series of films; he is now working on Madagascar 3. Specifically, he will be working on Melman's face and just finished a couple weeks of "face training." He's very much looking forward to putting his new skills to work. The movie is due for release in the spring of 2012.

Badgley's New Digs

He must be a very happy fish to have moved from a tiny cup all the way up to a four gallon heated tank with plants and filtration. At least we hope he is. Well, we actually think we know that he is; his color was much brighter right after the final move and he is very active in his new tank. T has read and learned a lot about beta fish recently, so if anyone has questions feel free to ask. But do know that if you plan to get a fish, do not think that it will be happy and healthy (or even okay for very long) in a little cup or vase. No matter what the guy at the pet store told you. We could tell right away that Badgley wasn't doing well in the little half gallon tank that the pet store had recommended (and which was actually marketed as a "complete beta tank"). Bottom line: do your own, extensive, research before buying a pet because the average pet shop employee doesn't really know what they're talking about.

Little Boardette

J is very excited to have found a little snowboard just perfect for B. Looks like next winter she will be ready to try the (bunny) slopes!

V-Day and Cirque du Soleil!

We had so much fun at the cirque show, Ovo, on Sunday. Its about bugs and an egg that everybody wants. It was really cute and the costumes were amazing. Two hours (plus a half hour intermission mostly spent in line for the bathroom) was just a bit too long for the kids, J and C missed the last 15 minutes or so of the show and B was a little restless at the end. Overall though, they did wonderfully and had a blast. B's favorite part was the trapeze guys, J's favorite part was the slackwire, T can't decide between the rope act and the wall act, and C isn't talking so its hard to tell. We came home with some fun dress-up hats and a DVD of Kooza so we can watch the magic all the time. Wish we could do this every weekend!

Oh, yeah...J got a bit older.

J turned 29 a few weeks ago. We kept it simple and went out to dinner and then to a bookstore. When will we tame our wild ways?

The tradition on birthday celebrations at J's work is that the previous birthday celebrant brings the dessert for the current birthday celebrant. So what usually happens is you bring what you like to the birthday after yours. T didn't think this seemed entirely fair, so we made a vegan cheesecake (J's fave) and some special Italian themed cupcakes for Luca's birthday.

Back to school.

The Spring semester has started for T, and she's excited and nervous about having three photography classes. She's looking into some new equipment and recommitting herself to this path, mentally and emotionally; taking her experiences from last semester and trying out new methods of organization. When two toddlers are involved, organization often feels like a pipe dream, but a necessity. Its her white whale.

Her classes this term are: Photography Concept, Nature of Photography and the Photographer and Photoshop. So far they all appear interesting, strenuous and important to the end goal. The teachers are all working artists as well as educators, one of the benefits to online classes is the widening of the net, so to speak.

And away she goes!
