Instagram of the Day!

C's picture day outfit. Love it so much! Great to be able to put the white button up and awesome dark grey shorts (Crew Cuts) into rotation now that they've fulfilled their wedding party duties. The orange striped shirt is one of the best basics from Tea Collection and comes in many colors, perfect for layering. And the cardigan is from one of our favorite local children's clothing makers, Kira Kids. His kicks are super fun Adidas in royal blue and lime, still clean because its early days.

Oregon Summer 2013 - Part Two: Eagle Crest

Eagle Crest might be B and C's favorite place, next to Disneyland. To them, its a place where they spend a week swimming and playing with their cousins, they get to stay up late every night, there are tons of adults around (Mama, Daddy, Nana, Papa, aunts and uncles) to meet their every need (and whim). T grew up spending family vacations at Eagle Crest, so its nice for her to see the kids enjoy it so much now.

T's family gathered there this time to celebrate the wedding of Uncle Dustin and Auntie Jessica. Its always nice to get everyone together in one place, and for an entire week was even better.

Roadtrippin' Four Fischies Style

We generally like to leave about 2 a.m., that's our sweet spot. But with our move, right before the road trip, we weren't yet unpacked...which made packing nearly impossible. The kids were so excited they had a difficult time falling asleep; and the grown-ups just didn't end up sleeping at all because by the time we were done packing up the rental car we realized we only had 15 minutes until it was time to leave! And then the kids woke up during the transfer from bed to car, and didn't really go back to sleep because of the anticipation of seeing their cousin Grant and Uncle Ralphie when we stopped in Corvallis for a bit of a rest...about 8 hours away. (Can you imagine how many "Are we there yet?"s that amounts to?)

Since our current place is quite a bit smaller than our last place, and it is not a place we plan to be in for all that long, we were taking some stuff to Oregon to store on the farm. Which meant packing the car to the gills. And that translated to a side mirror only situation, which T found stressful. Add in the lack of sleep. The awake children. And, well...this was the first time driving shifts have ever been instituted or enforced on one of our road trips, it was also the first time we had to pull over and attempt to sleep for 20 minutes at a rest area. We managed to stretch this drive out so long that it rivaled the snowy trip of Christmas 2008 when T had to stop to breastfeed a 2 month old C every two hours!

In the end, we made it to our destination and we were safe. We took no unneeded risks, and managed to laugh away even the most severe case of the grumps.

Cluny did well on his first road trip, but was happy to run free for a minute!

This is how we do

Instagram of the Day!

B and C got a tour of Gramma's work -- the old Columbia County Courthouse. They even got to go out on Judge Grove's special balcony...something not everyone is lucky enough to be invited to enjoy. Such a wonderful view of the Columbia River and Sand Island! We also saw our old pal Josh, hard at work.

Oregon Summer 2013 - Part One: The Heezy

For the first time we took two weeks (without T having to give birth to anyone) of time off and spent it all in Oregon. The first week was dedicated to St. Helens/Portland area, turns out a week goes by really quickly in that part of the world! We stayed with Gramma & Grampa on the farm in Goble, and lots of the extended Fischer/Oliver family was able to come out for a bbq one afternoon, which was wonderful. Several of cute babies have joined the gang since we've been away! We also got to help Miss Hayden celebrate turning six while we were home, which is awesome. T got a girls' night out and J lucked onto a Hood to Coast team last minute, the kids got some good play dates in with some great friends (that we don't see nearly often enough). It was a nice trip, but as always felt too short.
