Going to a show!
We just got tickets to see the Laurie Berkner Band at the Paramount Theater in Oakland this Friday. We are soooooo excited!

Thanksgiving came early this year!
We celebrated Thanksgiving a week early while Gramma & Grampa were here visiting us. It was so nice to have family with us this year and we are thankful they made the trip. T really enjoyed hosting and J was a wonderful sous chef.

The Ring Saga
On the evening of Thursday the 19th at approximately 9 o'clock pm (PST) T was suffering from a migraine and not thinking entirely clearly, took off her wedding rings and placed them on the coffee table. When she went to bed she forgot to pick them up.
The next morning she walked past the table and saw one of the three bands sitting on the coffee table but the other two were no where to be found. After tearing up the couch and the immediate surrounding area of the coffee table she began to fear she may never see them again. Our apartment can be a bit of a black hole with a one year old and a two year old. At first questioning B said she didn't play with the rings, but she quickly told T that she had played with them which wasn't at all a surprise since she loves all jewelry and especially Mama's sparkly ring. Unfortunately, despite her honesty and her willingness to help us find the missing rings she was not able to give us any useful information which could lead to their recovery.
Gramma and Grampa searched high and low while T was running pre-Thanksgiving dinner errands. But it is very difficult to guess where a toddler may have been and what she might have been doing. Finally, on Friday night T found the second wedding band in one of the magazine holders (those holes in the spine are very attractive to little fingers...we've also found apple slices in there before). As excited as we all were to now have 66% of T's ring safe and sound on her finger, it was still heartbreaking to be missing the sparkly bit (the engagement ring).
Its about that time that T really broke down and cried. Even if we had the money readily available to replace the ring she didn't want another one. She wants to wear the ring she was married with for her whole life.
Saturday morning (our Thanksgiving day, appropriately) J was unloading the dishwasher and found the engagement band in the bottom of the silverware basket! The kids just wanted to clean Mama's ring for her; how sweet!

Running, Running as fast as we can!
Our good friend Jessica (whom we've both known forever, but who was T's main partner in crime since they first sat next to each other in 9th grade study hall) came down to visit last weekend and to run the Mermaid 5K with T. Well we use the word "run" rather loosely, Jessica ran the race and T alternated between running and walking -- but she finished and was pretty stoked with that result. Jessica ended up placing 6th over-all and 2nd in her age group (she got a prize!). T is really, really proud of finishing 19th in her age group and something like 55th over-all; not too shabby for not working out at all the past three months. This was the first annual Mermaid run in Golden Gate park and all three girls are very much looking forward to doing it again next year. Jessica even plans to bring her daughter, the adorably and talented Miss Abby, aged 4 and a half, so that B and Abby can do the Mini-Mermaid Run together.
We really wish that it had been possible to take photos throughout the course because it was such a pretty spot for a race; down in Crissy Field and all the way to Fort Point at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge.

We love Cousin Grant!
One of our very, most favoritest people came to visit this weekend: our nephew Grant! We all had so much fun with him and we miss him already. As soon as B was back in the car after dropping him off for his return flight home, she asked J when he could come back again. Once we explained that he was home with his mommy and daddy she seemed a bit more understanding, but really we were thinking the exact same thing...when can he come back again?!
Its Halloween weekend, so he got to go to the fun-filled Halloween lunch at PDI complete with costume fashion shows (followed, of course, by the grand studio tour). Saturday he got the distinct honor of meeting the famous Miss Kelsey (famous in our home anyway) and then a drive down University St. in Palo Alto and brunch at Stacks in Menlo Park, which is conveniently located near cutest toy store around (Cheeky Monkey Toys). Then we went into the city to get up close and personal with the Golden Gate Bridge, although when we asked him if he wanted to walk across it he very politely declined. Next we went into the park to the California Academy of Sciences and the deYoung museum where we got to see the King Tut exhibit. And where we also picked up a great guide to the city which tells us all the cool architectural sites to see (a very big interest of Grant's). So you see, he simply must come back because we have so much more to explore with him! (hint, hint)
