We finally made the (short) trip up and over to Half Moon Bay for the first time. The weather was fine, the beach was beautiful and the town was quaint (at least the old town was). We found a wonderful little "tree fort" of gnarled, windy old trees that managed to delight all of us; it was quite possibly B's favorite part of the whole day! J managed to climb higher than T, but she maintains that if she had not been wearing Uggs she could have climbed all the way to the top. B was enamored of the horses people were riding on the trails and she tried to run after them (she was very upset that we wouldn't go along with that plan)! There was a dicey situation where we found ourselves on the top of a windy cliff with a hungry baby and a poopy toddler; we survived and felt like the parenting version of Bear Grylls! We found a couple of bookstores, but B and C get tired of that waaaaay before J and T do and they basically run the show so we didn't stay long. But if you find yourself in the area be sure to stop in at Moon News Bookstore, the owners were very friendly and its a nice little shop that deserves more shoppers (we bought "A Child's Christmas in Wales" by Dylan Thomas and a collection of short stories by F. Scott Fitzgerald). For dinner we tracked down an English-style pub we had heard about, it was...interesting. The staff was very nice and the decor was fascinating, but our favorite part were the pirates who were arriving just as we were leaving. Then it was back to the beach to watch the sunset and taunt the waves. It was a perfect day.
